A Russian drone strike killed at least 14 people on a crowded rail platform in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

Meanwhile Ukraine has paused strikes against Russian oil refineries after weeks of pressure from US President Donald Trump

but no such request to Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose strikes on Ukraine continue unabated.

The station was crowded when the Russian missile strike hit.

A train travelling from Zaporizhzhia to Dnipro was at the station at the time of the strike.

The United Nations condemned the deadly strike in Ukraine.

Shirin Yaseen, Associate spokesperson, United Nations said "Turning to the situation in Ukraine, I can tell you that we join our Humanitarian Coordinator, Matthias Schmale,

condemning this morning's deadly drone strike on a train at a railway station in Dnipro that killed and injured civilians.

Our humanitarian colleagues note that the casualty figures may rise as emergency services continue their response. In a statement, Mr. Schmale highlighted the growing risks faced

by passengers and railway workers in Ukraine."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strike in a post of X as a "horrific attack" that struck the passenger trains in Dnipro.

He also said in his nightly address that it was "important that America not remain silent about the killings that continue unabated."

At the Russia-Africa summit in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country does not want a war with Europe but is prepared for one.

He says if "others want it, let them prepare," and added "Should things go too far, there will be no winners at all.

Meanwhile, on the third day of a localised ceasefire, more people were out on the streets of Kherson Thursday confident the truce was holding.

This resident said, "My husband and I drove through all the neighbourhoods, areas we hadn't been able to visit before. We saw the city centre, we saw Suvorovo. It's a breath of freedom,

when you don't look at the sky. You keep looking at your feet because of mines. But at least you aren't afraid of dying."
