Iran has confirmed receiving a letter from US Vice President JD Vance but has not responded.

The US military, meanwhile, has reportedly briefed US President Donald Trump on its military options regarding Iran, and action could be taken after the US midterm election.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Vance sent a letter to Rezaei to try to restart negotiations.

Iranian media reported Tehran has received a letter from US Vice President Vance to Iranian Security Council chief Mohsen Rezaei but has not yet responded.

The report states Iran insists the United States meet seven conditions set by Iran in order to cease hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, emphasising any stance that undermines this

'established framework' is unacceptable.

US President Donald Trump, however denied instructing Vance to restart negotiations, stating the letter only concerned providing medical aid to Iran.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi posted on social media, stating Iran has not abandoned diplomatic channels and is discussing with mediators how to implement the plan to open the Strait of Hormuz sooner.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that Admiral Brad Cooper commander of US Central Command, briefed Trump at the White House on military options regarding Iran.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine also participated in the meeting.

The Pentagon has reportedly recently deployed additional air defence systems, ammunition and other supplies to the Middle East and adjusted some troop deployments but Trump

has yet to make a final decision on how to respond.

Iran has repeatedly threatened to attack a wide range of US military targets and Gulf state targets in the Middle East if attacked by US military.
