35-year-old father arrested after allegedly abusing 14-year-old son

A teenager was sent to hospital for treatment after sustaining injuries from a suspected child abuse case in Sai Ying Pun.

His father was arrested on suspicion of child abuse.

The police received reports at around 1am of a 14-year-old teenager being treated inappropriately by his 35-year-old father in a residential unit on Hospital Road.

Officers who arrived on site noted their initial investigation indicated the father had struck the teenager with his hands, and arrested the former on suspicion of ill-treatment or neglect by those in charge of child or young person.

The father currently remains in custody pending investigation.

This as the teenager suffered from eye, hand and head injuries and remained conscious when sent to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment.
