Secretary for Transport and Logistic Mable Chan says authorities have received more than 15,000 applications for the expanded Southbound Travel Scheme. The scheme will take effect starting July 25.

Drivers from nine mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area will be able to apply for the expanded Southbound Travel Scheme. The daily travel booking quota for mainland cars into urban area will be increased from 100 to 200.

Speaking on a radio programme, Chan says that the application number for the quotas has exceeded 15,000, with 60% coming from the nine cities. Chan says the government will work with the industries, including retail and restaurants, to promote Hong Kong's landmarks and cuisine to the mainland visitors.
