Lions Club at AsiaWorld-Expo for record-breaking taichi session

Nearly 4,000 Lions Clubs International members from six continents gather at AsiaWorld-Expo to perform Taichi to break the world record for the most continents represented in a single taichi session.

At AsiaWorld-Expo, Lions Clubs members from six continents came together to practise Taichi.

ORCHELITA, Participant from Australia: "I start sweating now, we love it, so fantastic, relaxing feel better just feel glad and happy."

DEEPAK, Participant from India: "It gives me peace to my mind by doing this, and I think this could spread to the entire world."

This participant from Hong Kong says he never imagined this type of event could happen here in Hong Kong.

Lions Clubs International is a global service organisation focused on medical aid, disaster relief, and more.

This year marks the third time its annual convention is being held in Hong Kong, and the Taichi event is one of the convention's featured activities.

The organisation's first ethnic Chinese international president Tam Wing Kun takes part in the feat as well.

They successfully set the record for the most continents represented in a Taichi session.

In addition to improving their physical fitness, the club also hopes that members will gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and promote it in their respective countries.

On the same day, the Lions Clubs also conducted vision screenings for about 100 primary school students at a local school.

Ho Kai-ming, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, says in his speech that as e-learning becomes more widespread, the eye health programme is vital to community healthcare.

Since 2024, the programme has benefited about 12,000 primary school students in Hong Kong and Macao.
