All MiC units for Light Public Housing installed providing 29400 flats

Housing Secretary Winnie Ho says the installation of all 33,780 Modular Integrated Construction, or MiC units for Light Public Housing projects have been completed, providing about 29,400 residential units.

The last unit was installed in a project in Ma On Shan today.

Construction began at the first site in December 2023, and all eight projects have now completed component installation.

Trying to meet the target of providing 30,000 Light Public Housing units by 2026/27, the speed of installation improved gradually, as each floor was eventually completed in 3 days.

The MiC units were built in factories in the Greater Bay Area before being transported to Hong Kong.

The flats were mainly built to accommodate the residents living in poor conditions while paying high rents in subdivided flats.
