1st reading of Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area Bill

The Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area Bill has completed its first reading in the Legislative Council.

Secretary for Security Chris Tang said the Huanggang Port will adopt a "cooperative inspection, one-time clearance" model, reducing clearance time from approximately 30 minutes to about 5 minutes.

The number of border crossings will also increase from the current 80+ to over 200, increasing the daily passenger flow capacity from 40,000 to 200,000.

Regarding the construction progress, Tang said renovation work is still underway, and the installation and testing of clearance equipment are still required.
