Comic fans flock to ACGHK Fair

The Ani-Comic and Games Fair has begun. Held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, this marks the 27th edition of the fair, with thousands of people in attendance.

The fair kicked off at 10am, with people swarming into the venue. Hundreds queued overnight outside the exhibition centre hoping to secure their favourite merchandise as early as possible. This year's event has expanded in scale, with three exhibition halls booked to accommodate a maximum of 38,000 attendees and the 900 exhibitors.

Mr. Yip was the first to enter, and with his budget of 1,000 dollars he first bought his ACG special editions of his favourite Sanrio character plushies in under 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, the fair also saw people who put a lot of effort into their own looks, hoping to mingle and admire the costumes of other fellow cosplayers.

Cosplayer: "Two months for ready. I prepared my costume for two months."

Cosplayer LAM: "I want to look for my friends and play with them, and take photos with other characters that I like. I woke up at around half past six and arrived here at around nine o'clock."

Despite the possibility of a typhoon tomorrow, both exhibitors and attendees believe the adverse weather will have little effect on the event. This vendor says there has been an increase of attendees so she's hopeful, but isn't setting her expectations too high.

She's not concerned about the typhoon affecting her business either. Exhibitor MING: "Hong Kong people are very strong for typhoons. I believe everyone will come. I don't care about profits, as long as everyone enjoys."

With five days of exhibitions, cosplay, and exclusive merchandise ahead, the fair is set to be a highlight for fans across the city.

While a typhoon may be looming, the energy inside the halls shows that for many, nothing will rain on their parade.
