Infantino attends Colombia president swearing-in ceremony

FIFA President Gianni Infantino was in Cali, Colombia Friday afternoon

attending the swearing-in of Abelardo de la Espriella as Colombia's president.

The swearing-in ceremony took place under heavy security in Cali

a city in the country's volatile southwest

breaking with tradition of holding the ceremony in the capital,

in a move meant to signal his hard-line approach to illegal

armed groups.

De la Espriella succeeds Gustavo Pedro winning a close runoff

election on June 21st against the outgoing president's ally

Senator Ivan Cepeda.

Embattled FIFA president who attended the ceremony

is facing a revolt after his failed plan to sell stakes in the

World Cup.

This while an investigation by the Daily Telegraph

newspaper reveals that UEFA paid off Infantino's alleged lover

while he was its general secretary, an allegation

Infantino is said to have denied.
