Yuen Long blackout left 2,400 without power supply for 7 hours

An underground cable fault in Yuen Long's Shui Pin Wai Estate had affected around 2,400 households' power supply this morning.

The supply was restored after about seven hours.

The temperature in Yuen Long exceeded 35 degrees this morning, and without airconditioning or fans at home, many elderly residents went downstairs to escape the heat.

One person was reportedly feeling unwell and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. CLP power sent workers to carry out emergency repairs and provided temporary generators and power cables. CLP power said the fault occurred at around 4 am, and said repairs were completed and power supplies restored by around 11am.
