The Chinese and Indonesian navies concluded a naval exercise

in waters east of Taiwan on Wednesday.

The session involved the Chinese naval vessel Honghe, and

Indonesian frigate KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

During the exercise, the two warships formed a naval formation

and conducted practical drills covering maritime communications,

formation manoeuvres, underway replenishment and a parting ceremony.

The exercise demonstrated the two navies' willingness and capability

to conduct practical cooperation and jointly contribute to regional

peace and stability, according to the Chinese military.

The exercise marks the first time the PLA navy has conducted

drills with a foreign navy in the area, although the training activities

did not appear to involve combat operations.
