2nd World Humanoid Robot Games wraps up in Beijing

Thousands of robots have been running, dancing, fighting, lifting weights, playing ball games and even performing martial arts in 51 competitive events that closed on Wednesday.

This year's World Humanoid Robot Games held in Beijing has seen Chinese robot Tiangong Ultra finishing the 100-metre sprint in 9.39 seconds on the first day and then breaking it twice with 8.86 and 8.64 seconds.

Tiangong Ultra also smashes human men's high-jump world record by jumping 2.8843 metres.

The winner of weight lifting lifted 16 kg in its demonstration while robots punched, kicked and dodged in kick boxing.

Some of the most dramatic moments came when machines raced and fell apart in the tracks, including one that crashed into the padded barrier and broke apart.
