CE visits districts ahead of Policy Address & 5 year plan Sep16 issue

Chief Executive John Lee visits a public housing estate in Cheung Sha Wan ahead of the government's announcement of the Policy Address and Five-Year Plan blueprint.

At around 2:30pm, Chief Executive John Lee arrived at Un Chau Estate.

First greeted by Health Secretary Lo Chung-mau and Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak, Lee paid a home visit to an elderly resident living in Un Shing House.

On social media, Lee says he spoke to an elder, who stayed in a daycare centre because of pneumonia.

The chief executive says the elder was satisfied with the service and that the government will continue to promote the application of technology in medical and rehabilitation.

After the home visit, Lee spoke to a few residents and mentioned he had often come to the estate at a young age.

Some people expressed their support for the city's leader.

He later stopped at an elderly centre to discuss "ageing in place" policy with a group of residents.

Before ending his visit, Lee joined several young people to ride bicycles, an event organised by a charity.

A student recalls his conversation with Lee, likening it to "chatting with a friend."

Speaking to the media afterward, Lee says the visit helped him gather more opinions from the elderly residents, which is useful in formulating the new Policy Address.

He announces he will be delivering the Policy Address and Hong Kong's first Five-Year Plan blueprint on September 16.

Asked why the administration chose to announce the Policy Address and the First Five-Year Plan blueprint on the same day, Lee says he hopes the public will understand that the two documents are interconnected.
