67yo fisherman died of alleged lightning strikes on his sampan off TKO

A person was found unconscious on a boat’s deck in Tseung Kwan O during a red rainstorm warning and died in hospital after rescue efforts. The victim was suspected to have been struck by lightning.

Online footage shows a vessel adrift at sea, with a person seen lying on board.

Police said they received a report at 9:15 am that an unconscious person was on a boat near the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link. Marine Police rescued the victim and took him to the Tseung Kwan O Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after rescue efforts.

The victim had burn marks on his chest, back and arms, and initial investigations suggest he may have been struck by lightning.
