Qatari foreign minister meets Iranian counterpart in Tehran

The Qatari foreign minister meets his Iranian counterpart in Tehran amid ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

This as Iranian officials earlier met with Omani representatives to secure a deal on revenues and transit routes in the waterway.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who also serves as the Gulf nation's foreign minister, arrived at the Iranian capital as part of a diplomatic effort to resolve the US-Iran conflict.

Al Thani met with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi after Tehran earlier dismissed US President Donald Trump's latest sanctions and another tanker attack from the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian media did not disclose the details of the meeting. This as the Qatari Foreign Ministry noted on social media that the visit aims to de-escalate tensions and facilitate dialogue.
