Shenzhou-23 crew take first spacewalk

Hong Kong astronaut Lai Ka-yin has taken part in the Shenzhou-23 crew's first series of extravehicular activities.

China's Manned Space Agency says the five-and-a-half-hour spacewalk mission ended at around 2 p.m.

Commander Zhu Yangzhu and astronaut Zhang Zhiyuan worked outside the station while Lai povided support from inside the cabin. With help from the station's robotic arm, the

crew installed protective equipment against space debris.

The Shenzhou-23 crew has been manning the space station for three months and is expected to return to earth late November.
