Ex-party chief of Hubei handed suspended death sentence for corruption

A Chinese court has handed former party chief of Hubei Province Jiang Chaoliang a suspended death sentence over corruption, with Jiang having earlier received over 700 million yuan in bribes.

The case was heard in Nanjing. Jiang was found guilty of receiving the bribes over the course of his work at several banks and as a party official in Jilin and Hubei.

Judicial authorities subsequently reduced his sentence to life in prison, and seized all of the ex-Hubei chief's personal assets.
