Typhoon Saudel moves across China’s east coast

What’s left of Tropical Cyclone Saudel is barrelling across the inland areas of eastern China and is expected to affect southern China over the next one to two days.

The Hong Kong Observatory says Saudel continues to weaken but its remnants will affect the western parts of southern China in the coming two days.

Meanwhile, under the influence of a broad trough of low pressure, the city saw more sunny and sweltering weather this afternoon with bouts of showers and isolated thunderstorms.

The forecaster flags a possible low-pressure area that can emerge between early and mid-next week but its track and intensity remain uncertain.

Showers are expected to ease off in the middle to latter parts of next week as a relatively dry continental airstream affects the region.
