Thousands Release Lanterns at Guangxi River Lantern Festival

The River Lantern Festival in Ziyuan, Guangxi, dates back to the Tang and Song dynasties and was inscribed on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2014.

The festival integrates the traditional river lantern festival with the Wupai Mountain Song Festival and has recently reached its peak, with over ten thousand people releasing lanterns to offer prayers, recreating a 'river of stars' across the water.
