New Miss Hong Kong hopes to be role model for introverted children

Bernice Yuen, the Miss Hong Kong 2026, says she hopes to act as a role model for introverted children to encourage them to express themselves.

Bernice Yuen, the 26-year-old communications graduate of Hong Kong Baptist University and an Ocean Park performer was crowned Miss Hong Kong on Sunday. Yuen turns emotional when she realised that she had won the pagenant.

Speaking to TVB News, the Miss Hong Kong says that she thought the result was "suprising" and "unexpected."

Miss Hong Kong 2026, Bernice Yuen, says " Because sometimes, I was not confident about myself, but I tried to convince myself that I am perfect to be on stage and I can shine on stage."

The theme of this year's pageant is "Dare to be Perfect." Asked how she would define "perfect," Yuen says perfect is about embracing imperfection. "The word "perfect" is to understand that you are not perfect because everyone is not perfect, actually. But you need to know your strengths and you can express it in your own ways."

While Yuen thinks taking up the title of Miss Hong Kong will bring her extra responsibility, she hopes to become a role model for introverted children, of whom she was one, and encourages them to express themselves through performance.
