The Hong Kong Observatory issued the Standby Signal, No.1 at 6:10 pm as the reborn Tropical Cyclone Saudel may affect Hong Kong.

Under the combined effect of Saudel and the northeast monsoon, northerly winds

are generally affecting the city. The remarkable storm took the rare southwest track through the inland provinces and made its way back out to sea.

With Saudel edging closer to the coast of Guangdong and intensifying gradually tomorrow, local winds are expected to pick up. Depending on the intensity of the storm, the distance the winds from the Pearl River Estuary, and the change of local wind directions, the Observatory will assess the need for the No. 3 signal.

Showers will be heavier over parts of Hong Kong tomorrow. The Observatory suggests the public to stay vigilant about the latest weather information.
