HKIS & its founding church break ties with out-of-court settlement

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod which founded Hong Kong International School Association Limited 60 years ago ended its ties with the school group.

That follows the two sides reached an out-of-court settlement after the US-based founder sued the HKIS association last year for alleged financial mismanagement and “elitist” education direction.

The Synod will “recoup a monetary reflection of its historical inputs to the school” and the money will all be dedicated to church, charity and education purposes.

HKIS says the school’s leadership will remain unchanged and the settlement will not affect tuition fees.
