HK breaks record for cargo ship loading and unloading

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan stated that Hong Kong has broken its record for cargo ship loading and unloading.

Writing on social media, Chan noted that the Hong Kong Seaport Alliance recently handled 8,335 container moves for a Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) ultra-large container vessel within 80 hours—double the typical processing volume. At peak operational efficiency, each crane handled an average of over 24 moves per hour.

Chan highlighted that setting this new record demonstrates the terminals' efficient operations and solid capabilities in scheduling, logistics coordination, and handling massive throughput demands.
