2 mpox cases logged in the city

Hong Kong has recorded two new confirmed cases of mpox, with authorities strongly urging people at higher risk to get vaccinated.

One case involves a 38-year-old man who developed genital ulcers on August 19 and sought treatment at a social hygiene clinic on Monday. He had sexual contact with a male partner in Hong Kong during the incubation period.

The other case involves a 34-year-old man who developed a fever last Thursday, followed by a sore throat two days later. He sought treatment at the emergency department of Caritas Medical Centre and was admitted.

He had high-risk contact with three men he did not know in Hong Kong during the incubation period.
