AFCD: slight rise in complaints involving suspected fighting dogs

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department says it has seen a slight uptick in complaints involving suspected fighting dogs.

Speaking on an RTHK radio programme, AFCD says the department’s veterinarians will carefully observe and assess dogs based on their physical features and body structure to determine whether they are fighting breeds.

While genetic tests for dogs are available in the market, ACFD says results can vary between companies because they use different databases and calculation methods so they should only serve as supplementary tools.
