Former lawmaker William Wong Kam-fai has been charged with drink-driving and three other offences linked to a car accident at the Chinese University of Hong Kong Campus in June.

He is due to appear at the Sha Tin Magistrates’ Courts next Wednesday.

Two months after his arrest, he was charged with drink-driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop after a traffic accident and failing to report the accident.

The June 29 incident came to light after Wong was allegedly found to have driven while intoxicated on campus where he reportedly crashed into two vehicles before leaving the scene.

He failed to report the incident to the Legislative Council at the time and continued to attend a reception marking the handover anniversary.

Two days after the case was made public, Wong announced he’s stepping down from his lawmaker duties and apologised for causing trouble to society and LegCo.
