A commemoration for former Bosnian Serb army commander Ratko Mladic,

who died last week while serving a life sentence for genocide,

was held Saturday in Belgrade.

This after his son Darko Mladic, said on Friday that he

believes his father was murdered in The Hague.

Mladic's remains were on a government plane from

The Hague, Netherlands, ahead of his burial.

Mladic's coffin was wrapped in the national flag, and Serbian

soldiers carried his body to a van for transport to a military hospital.

Serbia's Justice Minister Nenad Vujic was on the plane with Mladic's

family members.

The European Union cancelled an upcoming visit to

candidate nation Serbia over the "glorification" of the former Bosnian Serb

army commander following his death.

Mladic was convicted of genocide by a UN court IN 2017 but remains a

hero to many Serbs.
