Beijing launches the mainland's first comprehensive travel insurance for foreigners. The measure aims to tackle the issue of tourists seeking medical help on the mainland.
In the first eight months of the year, about 61.28 million foreigners visited the mainland, a yearly increase of nearly 20%. More than 23 million people arrived without needing a visa.
To overcome the issue of tourists seeking medical help, Beijing launches the first comprehensive travel insurance for foreigners. Different from the existing travel insurance, the new product's insurance age is from 28 days to 80 years old, and the insurance covers areas such as accidents, medical compensation and medical transition. The longest coverage period is 30 days.
The product also offers a 24-hour Chinese and English rescue
service. As for the insurance premium, the National Financial Regulatory Administration says the cheapest one is 50 yuan and the most expensive one is at 490.
