Pezeshkian, Ramaphosa, Guterres arrive in New Delhi for BRICS summit

The presidents of Iran and South Africa, as well as United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, have landed in New Delhi. This, ahead of this weekend's BRICS summit in the Indian capital.

Iran is one of the newly admitted member states of BRICS as part of the bloc's major expansion. Its President Masoud Pezeshkian and South African leader Cyril Ramaphosa are seen disembarking from planes and shaking hands with Indian officials upon their arrival on Friday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin meets with India's prime minister and says during the BRICS business forum that the West is resorting to destruction of facilities and pipelines and seizures of vessels to maintain economic leadership.

According to the foreign ministry in Beijing, President Xi Jinping will give an important address at the gathering and engage in in-depth exchanges with foreign leaders over major issues including the current international situation.

A spokesperson vows efforts to ensure that greater BRICS cooperation makes steady and sustained progress while contributing to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
