An overseas merchant who arrived in hong kong to participate in the
jewellery fair had close to a million dollars worth of gems stolen.
Police later recovered the stolen jewels and arrest one man.
Police say the Sri Lankan national's inventory was stolen in the lobby of the
airport hotel where he was lodging at around 2pm.
The stolen goods were recovered six hours later at a hotel in Tsing Yi,
where the alleged perpetrator was also arrested
Police say the arrested man was not specifically targeting the victim.
Instead, he would scout the airport for potential targets.
