Customs seized suspected cannabis buds worth a record 125 million dollars, which marks the largest seaborne drug bust on Hong Kong's record.

Three people have been apprehended.

The 535 kilograms of suspected drugs seized were all vacuum-packed.

Some carried location-tracking devices.

Following intel analysis, customs searched a batch of Hong Kong-bound goods from Thailand at the beginning of this month.

X-ray images detected abnormalities in 30% of the parcels with blue lettering weighing one to two kilograms more than the others and were later found to contain insulated boxes stashed with cannabis buds.

Customs say the drug trafficking syndicate had stored the goods in a remote warehouse in the New Territories, and only placed an order to a logistics company 16 days later to deliver the consignment to Mong Kok where the crime group's members picked up the drugs.

Customs immediately arrested three people, including a Vietnamese man.
