Government and various sectors to roll out National Day offers

As preparations are underway to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the government and various sectors are set to roll out special offers.

With just weeks away from the 77th National Day celebrations, the government announced it will roll out special offers and activities to celebrate the occasion in tandem with various sectors in the city.

The MTR will give away 77,000 digital single-journey tickets via a lucky draw on the 1st of next month.

Besides train rides in the city, the tickets will also apply to cross-border rides on the East Rail Line and the Airport Express.

Passengers will also be able to board trams and Star Ferry rides travelling between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui free of charge.

This as two Fortune Ferry routes will each give out 1,000 tickets, while those celebrating their birthday on the 1st of next month can ride for free.

Children will not be charged if they use any form of digital payment when travelling on most daytime Kowloon Motor Bus, Long Win Bus, Citybus or New Lantao Bus routes.

Local residents boarding the Ngong Ping 360 gondola will only be charged half the price for all return trips.

Greater Bay Airlines will also roll out special National Day-themed flight offers for designated destinations between the 30th of this month and the 11th of next month.

At 8pm on October 1, a fireworks display celebrating National Day will be held at Victoria Harbour.

Special offers also being made available at all cinemas and Ocean Park.

A maximum of three activities consisting of indoor facilities and swimming pools under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will be available to each resident via the SmartPLAY lottery system.

Meanwhile, initial reports say more than 2,000 restaurants and stores will participate in the special October 1 offer scheme.
