Transport chief: Central Kowloon Bypass to open on 6/12

The Kowloon Bay section of the Central Kowloon Bypass will open on December 6, which will mark the full commissioning of Route 6 encompassing the bypass and the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel.

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan said at the Legislative Council's Transport Panel today that final preparation has been ongoing in recent months including fire safety facility inspections and system testing. Chan says once the Kowloon Bay section is open to traffic, travel time from Yau Ma Tei to Tseung Kwan O can be shortened significantly to 12 minutes.
