Pay bump for new helper contracts signed starting tmr

The minimum wage for foreign domestic helpers will be increased by 120 dollars to 5,220 dollars per month, applicable to contracts signed starting tomorrow.

The hike marks a 2.35% in their monthly salary.

A government spokesperson says the adjustment is calculated based on established mechanisms and has considered Hong Kong's overall economic performance and labour market conditions over the past year.

For foreign domestic helper contracts signed at the current 5,100-dollar level today or earlier, employers can still submit them to the Immigration Department for processing and complete the application process by October 30.

The meal allowance at no less than 1,236 dollars per month, meanwhile, will remain unchanged.
