The Court of Appeal struck down the appeal filed by the Department of Justice over the acquittal of former lawmaker Lam Cheuk-ting and two co-defendants.

That's over allegations they pressed a man to delete photos in 2019.

Lam, currently serving time for other cases, was at the court to hear the verdict.

The incident happened in July 2019 during an anti-extradition bill protest in Tuen Mun.

The trio were charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and were found not guilty in 2023.

The Court of Appeal today ruled while Lam's actions on that day showed a clear tendency to pervert the course of justice, the police were unable to recover any photos from the victim's phone, making it impossible to ascertain the defendants' intent.

The appeal was thus dismissed.
