Lawmakers get their flu vaccinations

The Legislative Council held a seasonal influenza vaccination activity.

More than 40 members of the Legislative Council were vaccinated on-site, arranged by government outreach teams visiting the council.

Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau, who attended the event, stated that since the seasonal flu vaccination scheme launched last mid-month, 700,000 doses have been administered in less than a month. He emphasized that the flu is not a mild illness: since the summer flu season began in June, there have been 23 severe pediatric cases with 1 death, as well as 730 severe adult cases resulting in 503 deaths. Vaccination remains the most effective method of prevention, and he hopes that this year's vaccination rate will increase.
