A 62-year-old woman with mental health issues has been sentenced to three months in a maximum-security psychiatric institution for displaying seditious publications at the West Kowloon Court. Yang Chau-ki pasted publications with seditious intent on the wall outside her flat between March and November 2024. She earlier claimed the postings were meant to express dissatisfaction with estate security guards. However, the judge noted the meaning went beyond that and encouraged others to persist in their demands until the current political system is overthrown. She was eventually handed a guilty verdict. Psychiatric reports showed the defendant suffers from schizophrenia with suspected symptoms of delusions. The judge accepted the report's recommendation and slapped a three-month hospital order.
