186 more buildings missing fire-resistant elevator door frames

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department said it has completed their inspection on all elevators installed by Taizoom Elevator Company, discovering 186 more buildings missing fire-resistant door frames, with the total figure reaching 338.

This as private housing estates make up close to 90 percent of all buildings with elevators installed by Taizoom.

The EMSD noted door frame installation works have begun on elevators at the two initial housing estates and five private estates inspected by the department.

Authorities have also mobilised the Lift and Escalator Contractors Association to assist with similar installations in the next few days.

The EMSD said it is set to conduct regulation work pertaining to Taizoom's illegal activities.

The government noted it has yet to discover elevators installed by other contractors missing fire-resistant and essential components.
