As protests in France continue, with riots and looting reported in multiple locations, Hong Kong travel agency representatives said there are no Hong Kong tour groups in France for now.
In view of the latest situation, the city's Security Bureau has issued an amber outbound travel alert on France -- which signifies signs of threats.
Yuen Chun-ning, executive director of the travel agency WWPKG said a French tour originally scheduled for next week will be cancelled due to the unrest, affecting about 30 travellers. The agency said switching to nearby destinations could prove difficult for that tour group -- as there may be limited attractions to include in the itinerary with uncertainty over whether the unrest could spread and concerns about possible road closures.
It adds that inquiries for tours to neighbouring Spain and Italy have declined too.
