The leader of a Kenyan doomsday cult linked to more than 400 deaths was convicted of murdering 190 children and one adult after ordering believers to starve themselves to death in order to meet Jesus.
Justice Diana Kavedza ruled that Paul Mackenzie, leader of the Good News International Church, was responsible for overseeing an organised system that compelled to engage in fatal starvation.
This after more than 400 bodies were exhumed from shallow graves at the Chakama Ranch in the country's Kilifi County in 2023.
Mackenzie's followers, who were also told by their leader to shun education and healthcare, had resided on that site in a bid to avoid local authorities.
The cult leader was later arrested and charged with murder along with his wife.
The sentencing is set to take place on the 6th of next month.
