South Korea's Ministry of National Defence proposed military talks with North Korea to confirm the exact position of the border and prevent accidental clashes, saying that "three-way talks including the United Nations Command are also possible."

In an unscheduled briefing, Deputy Minister Kim Hong-Cheol warned of the risk of accidental skirmishes along the border due to differing understandings of where the Military Demarcation Line lies.

Seoul proposed restoring military communication channels and suggested that three-way talks involving the United Nations Command could also be held if necessary.

The offer came as tensions escalated following landmine explosions that injured three South Korean soldiers, prompting North Korea to announce plans to resume anti-Seoul broadcasts.

North Korean official Kim Yo Jong threatened retaliation against any South Korean response to Pyongyang reinforcing its border fortifications.
