China's vice minister of commerce Li Chenggang met with the US agricultural trade delegation in China. Reportedly, China's procurement of non-soy farm products from the US this year might slip to the lowest in seven years.
China's Ministry of Commerce said the country's lead trade negotiator and vice commercer chief Li Chenggang discussed bilateral agricultural trade with the delegation on Monday.
Reportedly, the value of China's imports of non-soy agricultural goods from the US totalled 7.2 billion US dollars or 56 billion Hong Kong dollars in the first nine months of this year -- also marking the lowest since 2019.
The White House announced in May that China promised to purchase 17 billion US dollars worth of American agricultural products starting this year and that amount doesn't include another soy-related trade agreements made in October last year.
