Tropical cyclone forming near the Philippines edges closer to HK

The Observatory said a tropical cyclone is in the process of forming in waters east of the Philippines, and is expected to edge towards the Eastern Guangdong coastline during the weekend.

Weather conditions are set to worsen in the latter part of this week.

Several AI forecast models indicated the tropical cyclone will be nearest to Hong Kong this Sunday, and possibly even pass by the east of the city.

Weather authorities expect the city will experience blistering heat on Thursday and Friday, before being hit by a string of thunderstorms and strong gusts in the weekend.
