The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department launches special inspection and enforcement operations over three days to ensure dog owners are properly controlling their dogs in public places.
Multiple Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department officers distributed leaflets to dog owners in a mall park in Yuen Long and on the cycle track near Pok Oi Hospital, reminding them to pay attention when taking dogs outdoors.
They also checked whether dogs are leashed, as canines weighing more than 20 kilograms must be held on a leash no longer than two metres.
Another group of officers inspected West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade in the afternoon.
They occasionally raised signs to remind people to keep their dogs leashed.
The AFCD states if non-compliant behaviour is found during the operation, immediate enforcement actions are taken.
They will also conduct special inspection and enforcement actions at multiple locations across Hong Kong on September 5 and 6.
