At least six dead in Indonesia ferry overturn incident

An Indonesian rescue effort in Java sea is underway after

a ferry overturned in bad weather on Sunday.

At least 107 people, out of the approximately 240 people

on board, have been rescued, but another six are confirmed dead.

The ferry was travelling from East Java to South Kalimantan,

and its captain had reported rough seas with waves of 3 metres.

Authorities were later alerted to the Virgo Transport 8's overturning.

Search teams, assisted by nearby tugboats and other vessels,

are searching for the remaining passengers and crew

of the Japanese-built ferry, designed to transport both

passengers and vehicles.
