Redeveloped Huanggang port to open Oct 12

Sources say the redeveloped Huanggang Port building could officially open as early as October 12.

The timing is understood to be aimed at avoiding peak cross-border traffic during the National Day golden week holidays as well as the heavier passenger flows during the weekend.

Opening during a relatively quieter period would give frontline port staff the first few days to familiarise themselves with the new arrangements and fine-tune operations.

Meanwhile, the Northern Link Spur Line connecting the new port building with San Tin has also been approved for construction with the line expected to open by 2034 at the latest.
