HA said Queen Mary Hospital incident will impact clinical services

The Hospital Authority said the recent incident involving malfunctioning lifts at Queen Mary Hospital's newest block will have an impact on the pace of expansion for clinical services.

The incident was uncovered last month with the HA having earlier noted contractors have completed necessary repairs.

This as Hospital Authority Chief Executive Libby Lee stressed her desire to move as many patients to the new facility as soon as possible, but admitted the current state of affairs at Queen Mary Hospital do not meet patients' expectations.

Addressing another hospital incident involving of a 54-year-old male patient who required a puree diet having died after being fed a regular meal at Prince of Wales Hospital, Lee said the HA is currently assessing the hospital's workflow.

She added authorities are currently waiting for a report on the incident and expects many areas are in need for improvement.
