Moscow takes 'largest ever' Ukraine hit on 3rd day of elections

Ukrainian forces fired more than 1,000 drones at Russia overnight, including hundreds launched toward Moscow, officials said Sunday, as Russia wrapped up the third and final day of its first wartime parliamentary election.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin described the attack as the "largest ever" drone attack on the Russian capital, saying 450 drones were shot down on approach to Moscow but that the strike damaged the Moscow Oil Refinery and a residential building.

Across the wider Moscow region, two people were killed and 20 wounded, regional Gov. Andrei Vorobyov said. The dead were a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman.

The attack disrupted air travel at several Moscow airports for several hours, with more than 400 flights diverted, canceled or delayed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv had used a range of missiles and drones, including domestically made Flamingo and Pelican missiles, to hit oil and logistics facilities.
