Trump praises UK's arrest of 5 men on suspicion of terrorist act

London police early Sunday apprehended five men driving suspicious vehicles near RAF Fairford, a UK-owned air base used by American bombers during the US war against Iran. The men, suspected of preparing a terrorist act, are taken into custody where they remain.

In Chicago, US President Donald Trump heaps praises on the arrests, saying collaboration with the British "worked out great."

"The arrest in the UK was fantastic working with Britain. It was an amazing job. We had them under investigation, they were looking to do big damage to our fort, and working with the British worked out great. It may have been Scotland Yard, I don't know, worked with a lot of them. We had them under view for a long time and we got them. Thank you!"

A cordon has been put in place around the three white vans while the army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit conducts examinations.

Aerial footage released by the media purportedly shows a bomb disposal robot roaming.

The police gave no details about the suspects' nationality.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions on British soil around the threat from hostile states including Iran, with the number of related national security cases rising 50% in the six months to December 2025.
