Rain to continue after rainstorm warnings in morning

The Observatory issued a red rainstorm warning for nearly two hours Thursday morning.

The Education Bureau said all morning session and whole-day schools would be suspended.

The Observatory issued the amber rainstorm warning at 7:15am, which intensified to red rainstorm warning 25 minutes later, then scaled back to amber rainstorm again at 9:25am, and was cancelled about one hour later.

The Observatory said a southwesterly air current is bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to the Guangdong coast and northern South China Sea.

At noon, the Observatory said widespread heavy rain may again affect Hong Kong in a couple of hours, and members of the public should be on the alert.
